One of the greatest gifts that can be bestowed on anyone is the gift of education. Chellaram Foundation makes donations for the building and equipping of schools, to develop e-learning material and to provide scholarships to high-performing students from needy families.

Ensuring right to high quality education – India

Viswa Santhi Vidyalaya School

The Viswa Santhi Vidyalaya is a school located in the Indian southern state of Tamil Nadu. The school aims to provide quality education to children from underprivileged backgrounds but struggled from a lack of proper facilities and lack of any government recognition.

A donation of INR 78 lacs (approx US$ 107,000) supported the construction of more classrooms, toilet blocks, libraries and computer centres.

The school now boasts 31 spacious classrooms accommodating 1,375 students.  Its students can now earn formal qualifications as a result of government recognition with the opportunity to progress into higher education.

Supporting a school for needy children – India

Shri Shri Maa Anandamayee Upvan Shiksha Samiti

Shri Shri Maa Anandamayee Upvan Shiksha Samiti was formed in 1998 to impart education to the children of slum-dwellers of Bairagarh district in Bhopal. Its modest beginnings comprised one class of seven students.

We donated INR 65 lacs (approx US$ 92,000) for the building of 12 spacious classrooms, a laboratory and a computer centre. Today, the school has obtained national recognition for its curriculum and caters to 475 students from deprived communities.

In 1998, to provide formal education to the poor children from the hilly areas of Uttarkashi in India, Swami Shukdevananda Giri started a school in his Ashram premises with 4 classrooms. In August 2012, the school was washed away when flash floods hit Uttarkashi. Swamiji continued to run the school through a rented guest house until we became aware of his remarkable work and were able to provide a donation of INR 80 lacs (approx US$ 110,000) towards the construction of a new school.

By 2017, a brand-new school was ready with superior infrastructure, spacious classrooms and with facilities such as a laboratory, library, computer centre and an open auditorium. We were highly honoured to have the school renamed as Chellaram SAS Academy.
