In 1998, to provide formal education to the poor children from the hilly areas of Uttarkashi in India, Swami Shukdevananda Giri started a school in his Ashram premises with 4 classrooms. In August 2012, the school was washed away when flash floods hit Uttarkashi. Swamiji continued to run the school through a rented guest house until we became aware of his remarkable work and were able to provide a donation of INR 80 lacs (approx US$ 110,000) towards the construction of a new school.
By 2017, a brand-new school was ready with superior infrastructure, spacious classrooms and with facilities such as a laboratory, library, computer centre and an open auditorium. We were highly honoured to have the school renamed as Chellaram SAS Academy.
